Hain Daniels is one of the UK’s leading food companies, whose brands include Hartley’s, Sun-Pat, Linda McCartney’s, and New Covent Garden Soup Co. Employing 1,300 people across eight locations throughout the UK, the company wanted to boost mental health awareness among its employees, which includes a high proportion of factory and food production staff.

In order to engage with a high proportion of staff via relevant content, we created a bespoke 30 minute mental health awareness video which we shot, edited and produced. Fronted by our mental health specialist Oliver Frois, content covered common workplace mental health problems, how to spot signs and symptoms in colleagues, understanding your own mental health, and included ‘breakaway’ exercises to keep attendees engaged. A clip from the film can be seen below.

This was then shared with the company’s HR team, who ran screenings across the 8 locations at various times, ensuring shift workers had plenty of options as to which screening to attend. A version with Polish subtitles was also developed for the company’s staff whose native language was Polish. The content was originally shown to staff in early March 2020, and then reshown a few months later to help employees cope with the impact of the pandemic.

“The video content produced by Shine was just what we wanted. They were fantastic to work with and full of energy and ideas.”
